Piano Sonata No. 11 in A Major
Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's Piano Sonata No. 11 in A major, K 331 (300i) is a sonata in three movements:
- Andante grazioso – a theme with six variations
- Menuetto – a minuet and trio
- Alla Turca: Allegretto in A minor and major.
All of the movements are in the key of A major or A minor; therefore, the work is homotonal. A typical performance of this entire sonata takes about 20 minutes.
It is uncertain where and when Mozart composed the sonata; however, Vienna or Salzburg around 1783 is currently thought to be most likely (Paris and dates as far back as 1778 have also been suggested).
The last movement, Alla Turca, popularly known as the Turkish Rondo, is often heard on its own and is one of Mozart's best-known piano pieces. It imitates the sound of Turkish Janissary bands, the music of which was much in vogue at that time. Various other works of the time imitate this music, including Mozart's own opera The Abduction from the Seraglio. For more on this style of work, see Turkish music (style)
In Mozart's time, the last movement was sometimes performed on pianos built with a "Turkish stop", allowing it to be embellished with extra percussion effects; see Fortepiano.
Moreover, this third movement is implicitly related to the first one, because the beginning of the "Rondo" can be seen as an additional variation of the "Tema" of the first movement, varied in the Janissary style.

The Cat Came Back
"The Cat Came Back" (originally published as "The Cat Came Back: A Nigger Absurdity") is a comic song written by Harry S. Miller in 1893. "The Cat Came Back" has since entered the folk tradition and been recorded under variations of the title—"But the Cat Came Back", "And the Cat Came Back", etc. It is also a popular children's song.
The song is humorous in nature, telling a silly tale about "ole Mister Johnson" who had an "ole yaller cat" that he did not want, and when he tried to get rid of the cat, the cat kept coming back.
The first commercial recording of "The Cat Came Back" was by Fiddlin' John Carson (OKeh 40119) in April 1924. Other early recordings include one byDock Philipine "Fiddlin' Doc" Roberts ("And The Cat Came Back The Very Next Day", Gennett 3235), on November 13, 1925.
The song was used as the basis for the 1988 short animated film The Cat Came Back by Cordell Barker.
The song is often used to teach children the concepts of rhythm and tempo. It is an excellent example in this regard, because of the strong and consistent beat pattern, combined with amusing and humorous lyrics. Additionally, especially the minor key versions of the song, have a compelling effect with regards to perception of tempo.

The "Maple Leaf Rag" (copyright registered 18 September 1899) is an early ragtime musical composition for piano composed by Scott Joplin. It was one of Joplin's early works, and is one of the most famous of all ragtime pieces, and became the model for ragtime compositions by subsequent composers. As a result Joplin was called the "King of Ragtime". The piece gave Joplin a steady if unspectacular income for the rest of his life.
Despite ragtime's decline after Joplin's death in 1917, the "Maple Leaf Rag" continued to be recorded by many well-known artists. The Ragtime revival of the 1970s brought it back to mainstream public notice once again.
The "Maple Leaf Rag" is associated with the city of Sedalia, Missouri, though there is no record of Joplin having a permanent residence there before 1904. Joplin arrived in Sedalia in 1894 as a touring musician and stayed with the family of Arthur Marshall, who later became one of Joplin's students and a ragtime composer in his own right. Sight Reading x_x
Sight reading again, again, and again! I'm bored with this thing... But I have to practice it again and again. Because I'll join royal exams in August... It will be my first royal exams. I'll join the third grade. It's really difficult actually but I need a lot of hardwork to prepare it.
Specially for the sight reading and aural test x_x. Actually I'm good enough in sight reading but not in aural... I can read a piano sheet fast and play it even though it's not fluent. But my weakness is in aural test. I'm not good in hearing. I can't sing a minor pitch. So horrible... Hope I can fix it in this 3 months. I have to give my best...
If you have tips for hearing practice, please tell me... I really need it ^^

The Entertainer
The Entertainer" is a 1902 classic piano rag written by Scott Joplin.
One of the classics of ragtime, it returned to top international prominence as part of the ragtime revival in the 1970s, when it was used as the theme music for the 1973 Oscar-winning film The Sting. Composer and pianist Marvin Hamlisch's adaptation reached number three on the Billboard pop chart and spent a week at number one on the easy listening chart in 1974. The Sting was set in the 1930s, a full generation after the end of ragtime's mainstream popularity, thus giving the mistaken impression that ragtime music was popular at that time.
The Recording Industry Association of America ranked it #10 on its "Songs of the Century" list.
"The Entertainer" is sub-titled "A rag time two step", which was a form of dance popular until about 1911, and a style which was common among ragswritten at the time.

Canon Rock!
"Canon Rock" is a neo-classical metal arrangement of Johann Pachelbel's Canon in D major by the Taiwanese musician and composer Jerry Chang (JerryC). The composition contains a variety of melodic lines showing Jerry's style of phrasing his fingers. The piece became popular on the internet after a video of JerryC was posted on Google Videos. The rendition has been featured in newspapers, magazines, and television shows. The re-arrangement was composed within two weeks.
Minor Chord
In music theory, a minor chord is a chord having a root, a minor third, and a perfect fifth. When a chord has these three notes alone, it is called a minor triad. Some minor triads with additional notes, such as the minor seventh chord, may also be called minor chords.
A minor triad can also be described as a minor third interval with a major third interval on top or as a root note, a note 3 semitones higher than the root, and a note 7 semitones higher than the root. Hence it can be represented by the integer notation {0, 3, 7}.
A major chord differs from a minor chord in having a major third above the root instead of a minor third. It can also be described as a major third with a minor third on top, in contrast to a minor chord, which has a minor third with a major third on top.
Macdowell Biography
Edward Alexander MacDowell (December 18, 1860 – January 23, 1908) was an American composer and pianist of the Romantic period. He was best known for his second piano concerto and his piano suites "Woodland Sketches," "Sea Pieces," and "New England Idylls." "Woodland Sketches" includes his most popular short piece, "To a Wild Rose." In 1904 he was one of the first seven Americans honored by membership in the American Academy of Arts and Letters.
Edward MacDowell was born in New York City. He received his first piano lessons from Juan Buitrago, a Colombian violinist who was living with the MacDowell family at the time. He later received lessons from friends of Buitrago, including Teresa Carreño, a Venezuelan pianist.
His family later moved to Paris, France, where in 1877 he was admitted to the Paris Conservatoire. He then continued his education at Dr. Hoch's Conservatory in Frankfurt, Germany where he studied piano with Carl Heymann and composition with Joachim Raff. Secret (traditional Chinese: 不能說的秘密; simplified Chinese: 不能说的秘密; pinyin: Bùnéng shuō de mìmì; literally "The Secret That Cannot Be Told"), is a 2007 Taiwanese romance film. It is the directorial debut feature film of Taiwanese musician Jay Chou, who also stars as the male lead and co-wrote the movie.The Secret Original Soundtrack was released by JVR Music on 13 August 2007.
In 2007 it received six nominations at the 44th Golden Horse Awards and won Outstanding Taiwanese Film of the Year, Best Original Song for "不能說的祕密" (Secret) by Chou and Best Visual Effects. It was also nominated for Best Asian Film at the 27th Hong Kong Film Awards in 2008.

Jay Chou (born 18 January 1979) is a Taiwanese musician, singer-songwriter, music and film producer, actor and director who has won the World Music Award four times. Piano Pop
Piano pop is a style of piano playing with melody and harmony based in the chord symbols. Piano pop isn't as difficult as classical piano because the you just need to remember the chord and make improvisations based on the chords.
Usually, the right hand plays the melody and improvisation and the left hand plays chords with broken chords style or bass chords. In piano pop, your piano playing isn't limited to your sheets. You can make improvisations and expansions by yourself as long as it is according to the chords.
For the right hand playing, you can use dual tone so the music is sounded more harmonious.
That's my knowing about piano pop playing because I still learn it too. Actually it's not difficult at all. Just make your music according to your feel and mind...

Beside playing piano, my another hobbies are photographing and editting. Sometimes I love to take photos and then I'll edit it. The photos aren't something special but something simple and I make it extraordinary...
Usually I edit my photos using Adobe Photoshop, Photoscape, and Meitu. I'll combine the facilities between them. It's really interesting...

OMG!!! I haven't posted anything here... and now it's almost the end of the month x_x
I'm busy with my school so I didn't have time to update my blog.. Sorry for all of you T_T

I'll sharing my experience now. I have learned "Moonlight Sonata" this month. At first, I feel that this song is really difficult. Even my teacher needed one month to master it. I thought that I'll finish this song more than a month. But I made it in one month too. Yeeey... How surprisingly...
From my experience, I learn that we have to be patient if we want to master something. You can't make it instantly. But you need a hard work and patience. Learn it one by one. "Moonlight Sonata" has 5 pages and it isn't easy. Just master it little by little. At the end, you'll reach the last page and master it ^^
I hope my experience can be a lesson too for all of you...
By the way, my teacher said that there will be a concert in June. Can't wait it..... If I can master "Moonlight Sonata" very well, I'll play that song in the concert. Need a lot of hardwork but I believe I can do it. FIGHTING!!!

Indonesian Pianist - Ananda Sukarlan
Ananda Sukarlan (born June 10, 1968, Jakarta) is an Indonesian pianist.
He is the son of Sukarlan and Poppy Kumudastuti. He started his music lessons at the age of 5 from his older sister, Martani Widjajanti. After graduating from Kolese Kanisius(Canisius College, Jakarta) in 1986, he continued to study in University of Hartford in Connecticut, under a scholarship from Petrof Piano.
He then went to Europe when he was 17, graduated with summa cum laude in 1993 from the Royal Conservatory of Den Haag under the guidance of Naum Grubert and was a prize winner of many international competitions, such as the Nadia Boulanger Award of Orleans. He has performed in many overseas festivals with symphony orchestras and ensembles of Berlin, Rotterdam, nearly all symphony orchestras in Spain, Paris, Wellington as well as appearances in radios and TVs throughout Europe. He was the first Indonesian artist who established the cultural relationship between Portugal and Indonesia by performing as a soloist with the Portuguese National Symphony Orchestra in 2000, right after the re-opening of the diplomatic relationship between the two countries. He is the only Indonesian listed in the book "2000 outstanding musicians of the 20th century" and "The International Who's Who in Music" published by Cambridge.
